Wellington people are not very superset uous, if a .Post, representative’s observations ©n Lambton Quay on-a recent afternoon are any criterian. A workman bad placed a. ladder in such a position that those wishing to pass had either to go under it or else walk right off the pavement, on to the road. The ladder was in that position for only a minute ,but of the seven people that encountered it only one, a young woman, would not pass beneath it. One or two of the six others glanced at the ladder before taking the plunge, but either they were not superstitious or had not tho courage to. make their weakness public.
