LITERARY AND DEBATING SOCIETY

THE YEAR’S SYLLABUS. The committee of the Cambridge Literary and Debating Society met last night (Mr S. R. James, president, in , the chair), when the syllabus for this year's session was discussed fully. The session will be opened with a programme of musical and elocutionary items. Three plays will be read, one night will be devoted to a Parliamentary debate, and another to a debate on the question, “That the Victorian girl was better than is the modern girl." There will be an evening devoted to Dickens, another to present-day poets, while the juniors will provide one eveniug’s programme. Original contributtions and a Shakespearean evening eombino to make an excellent session’s programme that should be helpful, interesting and entertaining.. The meeting, as instructed, framed a set of rules for the Society, and discuss•ed various matters -connected with tire forthcoming session, which, commences .on May 2nd.
