THE CAMBRIDGE ASSOCIATION. - ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Cambridge Hockey Association was held in Mr J. Byrne's room last evening, when Mr L. T. Keeley presided over a fair attendance. Balance Sheet. The balance sheet showing :t credit of 5/1 was adopted as read. '■ An Appreciation. The secretary! was instructed to forward a letter of appreciation to Air E. Faulkner, of Horotiu, for the good service rendered the game in Cambridge during his residence in the district. Election of Officers. Patron, Mr D. Stewart Reid (re-elec-ted); president, Mr Frank Penn (reelected); vice-presidents, Messrs T. A. Hicks, W. Wilkinson, J. S. Fisher, G. Clarke, jun.; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr F. M. Oliver (re-elected); auditor, Mr P. E. Crowthor. Club or Association Control. • When the matter of electing an executive was mentioned Mr McKinnon said that before taking action they should decide whether the game locally was to be club or association eontiol. He was of opinion that they should continue on as an association and allocate players to teams rather than adopt the club system. , The chairman (Air Keeley) supported this view- If they went in for the club system there would only be two clubs. The club system would be preferable if they could gt\; more than two clubs.

Mr Rees explained that last season two clubs had first been formed and continued in force with ,the hope that another club would be forthcoming. As it was not the association was the organising body and allocated the players to teams to provide a satisfactory competition. The system last season had worked very satisfactorily. On the motion of Messrs Glanville and Marshall it was resolved that the club system bo dispensed with during the ensuing year, and that the association be the sole organising body. The chairman spoke appreciatively of the fine spirit shown by all players last season in accepting the association’s ruling in the matter of allocation of players. The following executive committee was then set up: —Messrs P. Glanville, 1. McKinnon, J. C. Crowthor, L. T. Keeley and F. Joyce. Reorganisation.

A letter was received from the Waikato Hockey Association advising the local club that it was intended to hold a conference /of delegates in Hamilton on Tuesday, April 3th, for the purpose of considering the reorganisation of hockey in the Waikato. Cambridge were invited to send delegates to the conference.

The chairman said the letter indicated a desire that Cambridge should link up with Waikato. In the past they had been affiliated with Auckland Provincial Association, who put on the White Horse Cup competition. If an association Was formed for Waikato the prime movers had statbd that a suitably attractive competition would be put on during the year for Waikato teams. Mr McKinnon pointed out that the Hamilton teams would be much stronger than those they would meet in the White Horse competition, but, as against this they had to consider that the desire for a Waikato Association and competition was with a view to encouraging hockey in the Waikato. The chairman said in all probability if they joined up with Waikato, they would get an occasional representative match at Cambridge.

Mr Glanville thought Cambridge would benefit more by joining up with Waikato than Auckland.

Mr McKinnon pointed out that it would be useless joining up if Rialto and Waipa were opposed to the Waikato Association.

It was resolved that Messrs McKinnon and Crowther attend the conference at Hamilton this evening, and that they act an accordance with the views expressed at the annual meeting. Subscription. It was agreed that the subscription be 5/, and for members under 10 years of age. ' Playing Grounds. It was resolved to make application for the use of Victoria Square every third Saturday. of members. The report showed that the 1926 season was a successful one.
