♦ CLEARING THE SLIDES, ' STEAMER TRAVERSES ROUTE. New York, January 12. The old French screw steamer Alexander Levally, which started at the Atlantic end of the Panama Canal early in December, has got right through to the Pacific side. She made htops at various spots along the route, and helped to clear small landslides that have been blocking the canal.
