A Stabbing Case.
Received 10.15 a.m., 28th. Sydney, April 28,
W. N. Willis, a leading figure in the late land scandals, was found stabbed in the scrub near Randwick about midnight. The affair only leaked out this afternoon. Willis is alive; but unconscious and has two wounds in the left breast. Clark, a trainer for Willis, states that the victim was at his cottage last night, and left there late in cheerful spirits. He was found by a stable hand and conveyed to a cottage. Foul play was not suspected by those at the cottage, and medical aid was not considered necessary till later, when Willis became delirious.
It wasi then discovered that he had been stabbed. The affair is most mysterious.
Willis was to have appeared in Court today in connection with a case in which a man named Daley was to be charged with attempting to extort money from Willis. The judge ordered Willis to show cause for failing to appear on his subpoena and later on the news of the tragedy leaked out.
