COOPER’S BIOGRAPH COMPANY.
BRITAIN V. NEW ZEALAND. The above well-known company come with a splendid reputation from His Majesty’s Theatre, Auckland, and all the principal colonial threatres, and open in the Town Hall, Hamilton, on Friday, giving a performance in aid of the technical school funds. Mr Cooper is the oldest animated picture entertainer in the colony, and is entitled to credit for being the most up-to-date in his business. There is not an event or stirring excitement that has occurred within the last seven years but Mr Cooper has had it produced and thrown on the screen at his entertainments. His last enterprise is a record for New Zealand, having produced the BritishNew Zealand football match three days after it was played, the film showing many stages of the game. The films are most realistic. The tragic romance of Uncle Tom’s Cabin will be performed. Illustrated songs will rendered during the evening. Sheldon, the famous ventriloquist. Miss Lillie Sheldon, the charming sorio-comic, and Mr Lindley, the well-known baritone, also appear. Altogether the programme is a most attractive one, comprising sport. w r ar, comedy, tragedy, pictured melody and serio-comic items, as well as the finest ventriloquial items given in the colony. A matinee will be given on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
CAMBRIDGE ANNUAL SPRING HORSE FAIR. On Wednesday, 13th September, the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company will commence their annual spring horse fair at Cambridge. Excellent entries have been received in all the classes, and consequently over 1000 horses will be yarded. The heavy draught and contractors’ horses are a very line lot, most of them being full of hard feed and right out of work. The light horses comprise some very fine hunters, carriage horses and serviceable hacks. The sale will be hold in the following order : —First day at 10 o’clock, vehicles and implements, unbroken horses of all classes, including draught colts, contractors’ horses, unreserved and Auckland horses; second day at 9 a.m„ draughts only; third day at !) a.m., hacks and light horses. Vendors can find their place in the sale by reference to the numbers published in this papor from time to time.
