CROSS-COUNTRY EVENTS.
WAIRARAPA HIGH SCHOOL CHAMPIONSHIPS. KEEN CONTESTS YESTERDAY. Eighty-five runners competed in the Wairarapa High School senior and junior cross-country championships, held yesterday afternoon. The course, which started from the Park Oval, covered a distance of about 4 miles. The senior event was won by R. Peters, who beat R. D. Daniell by five yards in a good finish. Peters and Daniell held the lead most of the way. Peters was in command when the Oval was reached and he staved off a strong challenge by Daniell. There was an exciting finish to the junior event, the winner, Andrew beating Biggar by half a yard. The events were controlled by members of the High School staff, assisted by officials of the • Masterton Harrier Club. The senior event was for a cup presented by the Masterton Harrier Club. The results were as follow:—
Senior: R. Peters, 1; B. D. Daniell, 2; G. Falloon, 3; P. Patrick, 4. Junior: Andrew, 1; Biggar, 2; Heckler, 3; R. M. Daniell, 4.
