BOISTEROUS WEATHER.

FLOODING IN LOWER VALLEY. LAKE OUTLET OPEN. Heavy rain that set in early yesterday morning resulted in minor flooding in the Lower Valley. Yesterday afternoon there was upwards of two feet of water pVer the Kahutara-Lake Ferryroad for a distance of about half a mile. Motorists using the road had to exercise extreme care. Large areas of low-lying land in the vicinity of Lake Wairarapa were inundated and stock were to be seen huddled together on prominemes, which in the mid-after-noon were clear of the water. Rain was still falling in the Lower Valley last night. The outlet of the lake wm r opened a fortnight ago and although the water was about four feet above normal yesterday there was a free flow through the outlet to the sea.
