DRAMA LEAGUE.
MISS ELIZABETH LOE’S VISIT. FORTHCOMING FESTIVAL. The Masterton Branch of the British' Drama League has during the past week had a visit from Miss Elizabeth Loe, who has been specially trained in England to help with drama work in New Zealand. During her stay in Masterton Miss Loe helped ten of the teams that have entered for the Masterton Drama League’s festival, which is to take place in three weeks’ time. The producers, actors and actresses of these groups are loud in their praise of Miss Loe’s work and all feel that they have received great assistance in their work for the festival. By visits such as this, and by producers’ schools such as the one held by the Masterton Drama League last year the standard of work at the festival should be considerably raised. It is noticeable that increasing interest is being taken in the League’s work and the local executive has been greatly encouraged by the larger number of entries, necessitating a three evening festival this year. Miss Loe was a most encouraging and stimulating assistant to all the teams she visited, and the public will be interested to see if the productions have been improved this year. The festival will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, July 21 to 23.
