TRADE RESTRICTIONS.
SERVICES BETWEEN JAPAN AND AUSTRALIA. SERIOUS EFFECTS APPARENT. (Received Friday, 9.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 3. Shipping services between Australia and Japan are suffering severely by trade restrictions arising out of Australia’s tariff revision and the Japanese boycott of Australian goods. Tramp steamers have been withdrawn in Japan and diverted to other ports, while ordinary passenger vessels are only able to secure a tenth of their former cargoes. The newest Japanese vessel, the Canberra Maru, has just left for Sydney almost empty.
