The accused had lost a wallet containing £l6; It was the first prosecution in Wanganui under the new section of the Act.—)(P A.)In the Supreme Court at Palmerston North on Saturday before Mr. Justice Ostler, Caroline Myria Dorothea Brown, petitioned for divorce from John Albert Brown, of Masterton, carpenter, on the grounds of three years’ separation. A decree nisi was granted, to be moved absolute in three months. Interim custody of the three children was given to the petitioner. Mr. R. R. Burridge appeared' for petitioner and Mr. J. M. Laing for respondent.

The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union will be held on Thursday, followed by the ordinary bi-monthly meeting of the executive. The Dominion President, Mr. W. J. Polson, M.P., accompanied by Mr. A. G. Dawson, Chief Dominion Organiser, will be present and will take an active part in •the proceedings. Mr. Polson will also give a brief address. The business at the ordinary meeting includes the presentation of the Sutton Cup and Alfred Matthews Memorial Cup. On Saturday at 2 p.m. Flying-Offi-cer J. M. Buckeridge left the Hood Aerodrome in ZK-ACD for Blenheim With Mrs. D. McGregor as passenger, and Mr. J. H. Preston (pilot) left for the same place in ZK-ABE with Mr. D. McGregor as passenger. FlyingOfficer Buckeridge returned solo at 4.50 p.m. At 10.40 a.m. on Sunday Mr. Preston returned from Wellington with Mr. Kibblewhite as passenger. One of the accused named Sullivan, who was charged with robbery with violence, was reported to have escaped from a mental institution and to be still at large. The Grand Jury returned true bills in all cases. The first case was that of Moss Wylie, charged with negligently driving a motor-ear so as to cause death. It was alleged that Wylie’s car met and struck a lighter car and pushed 'it back sixty feet through a fence, killing Arthur Gordon Perry, of Wellington,’ and ’injuring three other occupants. The accident took place near Napier on April 11 last.—(P.A.) "We realise that New Zealand farming practice is generally a step ahead of our own, and we like to keep closely in touch with it,” said the Hon. R. Cosgrove, Minister of Agriculture in Tasmania, when interviewed after a visit to the ‘Canterbury Agricultural College. Mr. Cosgrove mentioned that the chiefs of staffs of the Tasmanian Department of Agriculture were all New Zealand-trained men—Messrs F. E. Ward, Director of Agriculture, Eric Hudson, chief of the field service, and W. Beaven, chief agronomist. "We could get officers from New South Wales and Victoria,” said Mr. Cosgrove, ”but our conditions are so similar to those in New Zealand that we prefer to draw men from here.” While in New Zealand Mr. Cosgrove has been watching, both at Massey College and the Canterbury Agricultural College for likely recruits to the agricultural service of his Government.
