JOHNSONVILLE SALE.
WELLINGTON - , February 13. At Johnsonville yesterday Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd., offered a full yarding of cattle and an average yarding of sheep. The cattle yarding comprised mainly good quality bullocks and cows with a few pens of inferior sorts. A good sale resulted at prices for prime beef on a par with last week’s rates, while plain cattle were not in demand. In the sheep section wethers were dull of sale while there was a good demand for ewes at last week’s rates. Lambs met with a ready sale and showed no alteration in price. Cattle: Prime extra heavy bullocks, £ll/7/ to £lO/17/; prime heavy bullocks, £lO/12/ to £10; heavy bullocks, £9/12/ to £9/4/; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £7/18/ to £7/3/; prime heavy cows and heifers, £6/10/ to £6; cows and heifers, £4/17/ to £3 5/; vealers, 24/ to 15/. Sheep: Prime extra heavy wethers, 26/4 to 25/; prime heavy wethers, 24/6 to 24/; medium wethers, 22/10 to 21/7; prime extra heavy ewes, 17/8 to 17/; prime heavy ewes, 16/6, 16/; heavy lambs, 24/4 to 21/6; medium lambs, 20/6, 20/.—(P.A.)
