HEAVY ENTRIES AND KEEN DEMAND. CHRISTCHURCH, August 7. A “National” parket was held today at Addington, when heavy entries of fat cattle and sheep met a keen sale. The top price for cattle was £23 3/6 and for a small pen of sheep 57/10. Store sheep: A larger entry and a good sale for young ewes and hoggets, but older ewes were up to 2/ a head easier. ~ Spring lambs: 30 odd were penned and sold at from 25/ to 41/6. Fat sheep: 5200 were penned, including excellent drafts from southern provinces and Canterbury. Prices for wethers were better by 1/6 a head and for ewes by up to 2/. A number of pens of wethers made over 40/ a head; good show wethers made 45/ to 57/10; extra prime heavy wethers, to 35/; prime heavy, 27/6 to 31/; prime me-dium-weight, 25/ to 27/; ordinary, 21/6 to 24/6; light wethers, to 21/. Show ewes sold to 34/1; extra prime heavy, to 31/; prime heavy, 21/ to 24/; prime medium-weight, 18/ to 20/6; light and ordinary, to 17/6. Fat cattle: 700 were penned, including a small consignment from Gisborne and truck lots from Otago and. Southland, and met a keen sale at the best of last week's prices, good quality being slightly better. A number of show bullocks sold at more than £l5 a head.. Best beef made from 28/6 to 31/ per 1001 b.; extra good to 33/. Show steers made £l7 to £23/2/6; extra prime heavy, £l3/10/ to £l5; prime heavy, £ll to £l2/15/; prime medium-weight, £9/10/ to £ll/10/; ordinary, £6 to £8 15/. Show heifers to £l4/17/6; extra prime, £lO to £l2; prime, £6/5/ to £8 15/; ordinary, £4 to £5/15/. Show cows to £l2/17/6; extra good, £9 to £lO/10/; prime, £5/15/ to £7/15/; ordinary, £4 to £5/10/.

Fat pigs: A big entry in all classes met a keen demand for baconers, porkers and choppers, with an advance in prices. Half a dozen of the choppers made more, than £6 a head, the top figure being £B/12/6; small porkers, 26/6 to 30/; medium, 30/6 to £2; heavy, to £2/11/6; average price per lb., s|d to 6d.
