JOHNSONVILLE SALE.
WELLINGTON, August 8. Ajl average yarding of sheep and a large entry of cattle were forward at the Johnsonville stock sale held yesterday by Messrs Wright Stephenson and Co., Ltd. The bullocks comprised chiefly prime heavy-weight beasts with a few pens of light-weight sorts. Prime heavy cattle were firm at late rates. The light cattle were on a par with last week, while the offering of cows and heifers consisted chiefly of medium-weight cattle, with the usual yarding of dairy sorts. There was a keen sale with no improvement in values. There was a good sale for all classes of runners and vealers, with an increase of 2/6 to 5/ per head on last week. The yarding of wethers consisted mainly of prime heavy-weight sheep. There was keen competition for heavy sheep, but plain sorts and lightweights were hard to quit. The ewes yarded were of good quality heavyweight sheep, and there was a keen demand for all classes with no alteration in prices. There was a small yarding of average hoggets, for which there was a good demand.
