MINING IN RUSSIA.
WORKING CONDITIONS BETTER THAN IN AUSTRAIXA. ACCORDING TO LABOUR DELEGATE. MELBOURNE, July 17. Books and pamphlets brought from Russia by Mr. J. E. Goldsmith, who. represented the Wonthaggi minors in the Australian delegation which visited Russia to attend the May Day celebrations, were seized by the Customs officials when he arrived at Melbourne. Mr. Goldsmith, who inspected the Russian coalfields at Stalina, said that workers’ conditions in the mines were far superior to those in Australia. The miners had four days on and one day bff on full pay each week.
