CONSERVATIVE PARTY.

SUPPORT FOR MR. BALDWIN. BALLOT RESULTS. FOUR TO ONE MAJORITY. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. LONDON, October 30. The Conservatives’ secret ballot on Mr. Baldwin’s leadership was held to-day, and resulted: 464 in favour of Mr. Baldwin and 116 against. A HOSTILE CRITIC. ACCUSATION OF VACILLATION. LONDON, October 30. At the meeting of the Conservative Party, General Sir H. Page-Croft strongly criticised Mr. Baldwin. He declared that the Conservative policy could not be carried out under a flabby, vacillating leadership, changing from day to day. The ballot followed, after which the meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Mr. Baldwin, and pledged itself to support his policy and leadership. Mr. Baldwin, in a letter to Lord Salisbury, welcomed the decision that the dissentients would abide by the result of the ballot, and expressed gratitude at the party closing its ranks in the presence of the common foe.
