TO-MORROW’S MATCH WITH AUCKLAND. WAIRARAPA TEAM SELECTED. Mr. E. McKenzie, sole selector, announced last night that the following team would represent Wairarapa in the Ranfurly Shield match with Auckland, to be played at the Carterton Showgrounds to-morrow: — Full-back: L. Roach (Old Boys); three-quarters, Randal Booth (Gladstone), C. Stringfellow (Greytown), F. Fuller (Greytown); five-eighths, A. E. Cooke (Old Boys), R. Cundy (Greytown); half, J. Mill (Masterton); wing forward, J. Donald (Greytown); hookers, W. Irvine (Carterton), K. Reid (Carterton); lock, I. Harvey (Masterton) ; supports, M. Willoughby (Red Star), S. Willoughby (Red Star); back row, N. McGregor (Gladstone), S. Olliver (Carterton). Emergencies: Backs: I. Hart (Carterton), A. V. Jury (Greytown), T. Corkill (Red Star); forwards, K. Fairbrother (Carterton), J. Walker (Gladstone); J. Le Quesne (Old Boys). The team will assemble at the Club Hotel, Carterton, at noon on Saturday. A masseur will be in attendance. With Reside not available, the team selected is probably Wairarapa’s best, and one that should meet with general approval. Twenty-three players assembled at the Carterton Showgrounds yesterday afternoon and held a practice under the eye of Mr. McKenzie, who made his final selection later. The following are the midget teams, to play during the half-time interval to the Shield match:— Central (maroon). —Rex Riley (capt.) Ross Riley (vice-eapt.), Donaldson, Watson, Cameron, Bodie, Silvester; reserve, Lane. Carterton.—Rawlings (capt.), Steffert, Thompson, Lawrence, Butler, Reid, O’Loughlin; reserve, Steel. THE OFFICIAL SOUVENIR A fine photographic reproduction of the Ranfurly Shield takes pride of place on the tinted cover of the souvenir programme for the Auckland v. Wairarapa match to-morrow. Thirtytwo pages of pictures, records and interesting reading matter will prove of interest to all followers of New Zealand’s national pastime. The Souvenir will be bn sale in Masterton and <!arterton this afternoon. This latest pub* lication of Mr. Walter E. Knott and his associates, the Masterton Printing Company, sets a standard in programme publicity.
