CROQUET.

MASTERTON CLUB ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Masterton Croquet Club was presided over by Mrs J. Kerr.

The report and balance sheet, which, were adopted, showed that the club was in a very sound financial position, and that the past season had been most successful. The membership was good, and the various competitions had been keenly contested, and. had revealed some very promising players. Towards the close of the season, the club had received a visit from a Wellington team, and the games played were greatly enjoyed. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. J. Kerr, re-elected; vice-presidents, Mesdames Polson and P. A. Macomish; secretary, Mrs E. J. Bassett. Committee, Mesdames Finlayson, Clayson and Staniforth; -sports committee: Meedames Staniforrh, Betteridge and Finlayson. Mrs. Betteridge was elected club captain. Eulogistic reference was made to the work of the retiring secretary, Mrs. Spackman, who had been untiring in her efforts, during her term of office, in furthering the interests of the club. The very satisfactory position of the club was in a large measure due to Mrs Spackman, and members expressed appreciation of her services and courtesy to them. In I the evening members and their friends were entertained at a 500 evening, which was voted a most enjoyable one by the many guests present. The prizes were won by Mrs Donnelly and Miss Nix.
