The following in the higher commands of the Royal Air Force are announced in a British Official Wireless message: Air-Marshal Sir John Salmond has been selected to succeed Air yice-Marshal Sir Philip Game as Air Member of the Council for personnel at the beginning of January next, and Air Vice-Marshal Sir Edward Elwill at the same time succeed Air Marshal Sir John Salmond as Air Officer Commander in Chief of the Air Defence of Great Britain.

At Shannon on Saturday afternoon the Wellington-Auckland express crashed into a five-seater car driven by J. Spooner, of Palmerston North, containing Mrs Baker, of Shannon, as a passenger. The car was smashed 1 to atoms. Both occupants were seriously injured and their condition is critical. The accident occurred at a crossing to .i side road just north of Shaunon.
