MAORIS GIVE WAY.
IN DISPUTE WITH WALES. LONDON, October 5. It is announced that the Maoris will play under Welsh rules.—(A. and N.Z.) CONFERENCE ON RULES. LONDON, October 5. A conference of English and Welsh Rugby Unions, to ba held in London this week, aims at an agreement in regard to the application of the new rules in matches between English and Welsh clubs. One English club has intimated that it will only play under English rules. The “Evening News” points out that the International Board decided recently that the New South Wales team shall play only under international rules.—(Sydney “Sun.”)
THE MAORI DECISION. REFERENCE TO INTERNATIONAL BOARD. (Received This Day, 1.1(1 a.m.). LONDON, October 6. The manager of the Maoris declared at Clermont-ferrand that they are prepared to meet the Welsh, submitting the rules question to the International Board, and being bound by its decision. The Bugby Football International Board decided that the New South Wales team of 1927-2! must play under the International Board rules. This means that there will be no games in Wales unless Wales rescinds its new rules.—(A. and N.Z.).
