SERIOUS PILLAGE.
NEARLY 400 WATCHES. AUCKLAND, October 6. The firm of Messrs J. Yock and Company, on taking delivery of a case that originally contained 538 watches, found that it had been pillaged of 388 watches, valued at £125. The twelve seals were in proper condition, and the empty cardboard boxes remained in the case. There were two large cobble stones, evidently used to make up the weight of the shortage. AU the indications paint to the piUage having taken place before the case left Antwerp.—(P.A.).
