Mr. Alan Cobham, the English aviator, who has just returned from a flight to Australia and back in three months, has been created a Knight of the British Empire.—(A. and N.Z.). GIFT FROM ADMIRERS. TRANS-ATLANTIC FLIGHT CONTEMPLATED. (Received Wednesday, 9.35 p.m.) LONDON, October 6. The “Daily Express” states that Sir A. Cobham flies on Thursday from London to Manchester, where there is a question of raising subscriptions to secure an aerodrome site. Sir A. Cobham says he is anxious to make “Cottonopolis” take a more active interest in civil commercial flying. It is understood he is also considering a transAtlantic flight.—(A. and N.Z.).
