AN EXPLANATION WANTED
GBOWDS IN QUEEN STBEET. ('TO the Editor.) Sir;—Having read in your paper of today that Cr. Barton had requested the Mayor,, at last night’s Borough Council meeting, to take steps to have removed: the crowd who congregate in Queen; street on Saturday evenings , awaiting the results of our national. ‘game,, I would like Cr. Barton to ex-,-plain what he means when he talksI about dislocation of traffic, or has heseen ®r heard of any dislocation in thetraffic on account of a few people of sporting instinct who go along to see how the AU Blacks or budding All Blacks are faring. Sir, the next thing that I expect Cr. Barton to wap* is that the authorities be requested to stop the crowds from going to. the Memorial Park to a football match on Saturday afternoon, or to see- R. A, Rose run on the Oval. It is a pity, Sir, that Cr. Barton, who was. put on the Council by the ratepayers, cannot think of something to ask the Mayor that would be of benefit to the electors of Mastertoa instead of asking him to be a party to such trivial matters. Hoping Sir, that you wilt print thesa few lines.—l am, etc., A. CARROLL. Masterton, July 21.
