On the previous day Wellington knocked up 157 and Auckland 187. In Wellington’s second venture the batsm n hit out and the score reached 252 (Hollings 95, Lawson 40, Leys 29, Massey >2B, Greig 23. (Received Wednesday 10.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 6—Victoria, 2nd innings, 604 (Ransford 55, Millar 33, Thompson 35, Woodfull 236, Ryder 95. Scott 3/152). South Australia, 2nd innings, 3 for 38. The weather was fine and th® wicket good. Wood full played a great, careful innings, which lasted for 373 minutes. Ryder was at the top of his form, timing well and getting plenty of power into his strokes. The South Australian bowbng lacked sting, but the fielding was good.—(P.A.)
