DEMANDS REFUSED.
CANTERBURY FREEZING WORKERS. WORK NOW PROCEEDING. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 6—The demands of the Canterbury freezing workers for increased pay have been refused. Work is proceeding. —(P.A.) [ SYMPATHY FROM MASTERTON. STOP-WORK MEETING AT WAINGAWA. A stop-worlf meeting of workers engaged at the Waingawa freezing works was held yesterday, Mr A. McLeod (secretary of the Wellington Freezing Workers’ Union) and Mr R. Semple being present.
After two hours’ discussion, the following resolution was unanimously carried: “That this meeting of Masterton freezing workers whole-heartedly supports the Canterbury demands for increased rates, believing them to be reasonable and just, and further pledges to take whatever action is deemed advisable in Support of the same.” It was further agreed by resolution that no men go south until the dispute is settled.
