RECONSIDERATION.
CONTROL OF WHEAT. A PECULIAR SITUATION. ASHBURTON, Jan. s.—Wheat control has been the subject of correspondence between Mr J. Brown (president of the mid-Canterbury Executive of the Farmers’ Union) and Mr Coates. On December 13, Mr Brown telegraphed: “Re correspondence on wjioat control that has lately passed between the Minister of Agriculture and myself, as representing the growers, and the peculiar position that has arisen therefrom, it would pave the way to a better understanding if you asked if the Government would kindly answer these questions: (1) Cabinet having decided not to control after the 1925-26 season, is it its wish that the growers should have the opportunity to review the decision to control for this season; (2) if so and a representative meeting' of growers is called, is it the intention of Cabinet to reconsider its decision to control in 1925-26 if the decision of such a meeting is unfavourable to control! ” Mr Coates replied that he was communicating with Mr Nosworthy and will reply later.—(P.A.)
