. Inspector McHvency paid a visit of inspection to the Martinborough police station on Wednesday. Colonel Mitchell, secretary of the Winter Show, was a visitor to the Carterton Show yesterday. Messrs W. Hodges and J. W. ’Andrews, directors of the Wairarapa Kawarau Goldmining Company, leave this morning for Queenstown in con* nection with the Kawarau development. «•
Mr W. Corkill, a prominent compo titor in the equestrian events at athletic meetings at Makomako, was rounding up some cattle last week when his horse slipped, throwing him. His right leg was broken and also a small bone in the foot.
The staff of the new GovemoiyGeneral of New Zealand, General Sir Charles Fergusson, will include Major L. P. Haviland, of the Indian Army, as Military Secretary, and Mr T. E.
I. Little as Private Secretary, and probably Lieutenant C. J. Vernonr Wentworth, Grenadier Guards, as aid©-de-camp.
