INTERNATIONAL RUGBY.
Since New Zealand is not to be free for even one season from the distractions of an international Rugby tour, we are glad to know that the seventyfour French players who are to leave France in May for Australia and New Zealand must definitely be back in France in October. They will, therefore, have to compress their activities into a space of five months, of which at least two months will be absorbed in sea voyaging, and at least one month in Australia. We may therefore look forward to tv.% full months of dislocation of business, special halfholidays, feverish bookmaking and violent street corner arguments as to the merits and demerits of the French and New Zealand players. It is our duty, of course, to entertain th? Trench hospitably and to put the Jjest possible teams in the field against them, for they are now footballers of the highest standard. But there is no harm in hoping that when 1922 is over the New Zealand Rugby Union will give the international tour business a rest and let us look after our own business affairs and restore the country to its former state of prosperity.
