LIQUOR’S BURDEN.

90 PER CENT tOF THE REVENUE. (“The Age” Special.) Wellington, Dec. 8. —The member for Blenheim (Mr R. McCallum) made a suggestion to-night (and it was not denied by Ministers) that almost 90 per cent, of the increased revenue expected from the new tariff will come from the additional 18s per gallon duty on whisky and the almostdoubled beer duty—“that is,” he added, “if he gets it.” Personally, he intended voting against the Prime Minister on this point when he got the opportunity, and he expected support from Sir Heaton Rhodes member for Wakatipu, who, \fith himself, represented the barley-grow-ing districts of the Dominion.
