At the„,meetuig of the .Masterton Ghamjfoer of iGonimerce' yesterday* Milk n aid Donald moved, "That this Chamiber approves of the constructior. of the Napier-Gisiborne railway bv the Government /from the Napier end." ;
Mi- Donald stated that he thought this Ghajniber should assist the .Napio>' people as -far as possible. The matter was an imoortant one.
Mr Danie'li said he (had previously moved that the letter from .the Napier Chamber be received. He did so because hio ibeJieved tihat the Napier people could look after themselves. There was only a limited a-mount of money to ispond. Masterton should look after its own projects. Mr Henderson thought they should work in a neighbourly manner with Napier, which would give every assistance in return. V
Mr Rahson seconded the motion of Mr Donald, and urged that the sooner (the Napier-Gisbonie line was put tlirougjh, the sconer the Rimutaka line wosuld »be deviated.
The resolution was put and carried troammoiuly.
