QUESTION BEFORE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
At the annual-meeting of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce yesterday Mr JR. Brown moved, "That the Chamber strongly against the alteration of the name of the Kirripuni Station to "Purakau" instead of "Solway," and is' prepared to support the A. andP. Association, and other bodies, in any laotion taken to get thfe name -of "Solway," or the old name retained." Mr Birowin said tibere was no excuse for changing the name from Euripuni to Purakaju. There was another name of Purakau in the D'ominion. Hie considered they should insist on a return to the old. name, if they could not get a, change • to Solway.
Mr Carey .stated that he was mot. concerned one wajr or another. He believed that .rWakatu sounded just as well a.s Kuripuni. Mr D. Donald isaid the old Maori ,namie of the place was "Piurata"— which, meant a flowering rata.
The motion of Mr Brown was carried on the voices.
