OFFICER IN CHARGE OF CADETS ARRESTED. SUBSEQUENTLY COMMITS SUICIDE. By Telegraph—Press Association. MARTON, February 4. Yesterday at Rata, Major Saunders, well-known throughout the district in connection with military matters, was arrested by Constable Gray,, of Hunterville, on a charge of having committed an unnatural offence.. While being conveyed, to HuDterville, Major Saunders suddenly dropped dead on the road. At an inquest held at Rata to-day, a verdict of death due to syncope through some poison was returned. A portion of the internal organs will be sent to the public analyst. The deceased left a number of letters relating to the case, showing that his suicide was premeditated. Tfae, deceased was io charge of the Cadets on this Coast.
