Mr Bent, the State Premier, paid a public tribute to the Jate Mr Seddon. in the course of his speeuh he said:—-"A few days ago we had In our midst that great, large, bluff Briton and Imperialist, Mr Seddon. He has gone to 'God's own country.' He had the patriotism of Bismarck with a sharper coneoienoe, the aspirations of the late Oeoil Rhodes, with the faculty o£ realising his ideals. He vied with the late Mr Gladstone in statecraft, and won the praise of the world. When the life of Richard Seddon is written, the British will be given an enduring monument."

Two men named Nolan and Turner have been arrested on suspicion.
