UNKEPHNDENT REPORT TO BE MAKE.
I ' CHRJSTCBUBOB, July R I The Mayor stated to-day that matters in connection with the Lake Coleridge scheme had reached such a stage that the City Council felt that it should hove ttho benefit of expert ..advice on the whole qluestion. The council wanted the costs of the production <i electricity bv «n* nroducer plants, oil and steam engines, and other methods of generation compared with the Lake Coleridge scheme, on the basis of tha provisional arrangement already made. iAj special meeting of the Council was held last evening to consider the question of amployimr aa independent expert. The committee) unanimously recommended that Mr Frederick Black, consulting] engineer, of Wellington, should be asked to report on tho scheme. The Mayor added that it would probably fee three weeks before Mr Black's report would be ready for presentation to the Council. Mr Black had previously reported on the Timaru electric scheme, and wa» a recognised independent .authority.
