BOWLING.

Our bowling representatives at the tournament in Dunedin — viz., Messrs Jeffery, Allan, Christie, and Darton — though they have not distinguished themselves by winning either the rink or doubles championships, have, considering the small amount of practice they have had this year, put up a very creditable performance. In the rink matches they had four wins and two losses, giving them third position in Iheir section. On Wednesday in the fifth round they beat Dunedin (Johnston, skip), 24 — 11, but in the sixth round they went down to Kaitangata (Hislop, skip), 13—9. In the doubles Mr Jeft'ery (owing to Mr Allan being slightly indisposed) was associated with Mr K. M. Wright. They wore beaten in the iir&t round by Millar and Taylor (Southland), 16 — 11, and in the second by Remington and Webb (Wellington), 22—3. In the third round they scored a win against Petterson and M'lntosh, 15 — 10, went down in the fourth round berore Bee and Heron (Phoenix), 18—17, but won against Hastie and Smyth (Southland), 19—17, in the fifth round. Messrs Dai ton and Christie, who played on Roslyn green, were more fortunate, winning four of the five rounds — viz., against Wilkinson and Crawford (Roslyn), 17—10 ; Gage and Alexander, 20 — 13 ; Neave and Marryatt (Canterbury), 16—13 ; and Steans and Smith (North End, Invercargill), 23 — 13. Wallace and Haiu (North End, Invercargill) beat them 21 — 20.

In the rink finals Newtown, Wellington (Prince, skip) beat Kaitangata (J. Hislop, skip), 32—17, for first prize, and Green Wand (W. M'Donald, skip) beat Southland (R. Taylor, skip). 26—17, for third prize. ggln the semi-final for the doubles M'lwrick and Dall beat Rule and Ilewat 17 — 9, and Tnrnbull and M'lntyre beat Davis and Barnett 19 — 12. In the final, played yesterday afternoon, M'llwrick and Dall beat Tnrnbull and M'lntyre. The Singles Championship was won by J. G. Gow (Timaru), H. Garforth (Gore) second, W. M'Laren (Dunedin) third.

None of the Lawrence players took part in the single.s.
