RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, LAWRENCE.
(Before E. H. Carew, Esq., R.M.) Monday, 11th Maech. Wliittet v. Ledgerwood. — Claim of £2 ss, being amount of damage committed to plaintiff's garden by several head of cattle the property of defendant. The evidence submitted was of a very conflicting character. His Worship gave judgment for half the amount sued for (£1 2s 6d) , with costs, 9s. Patillo v. Gordon. — Claim of £40, being the value of a horse which plaintiff alleged lost its life through the defendant's negligence. The case had been adjourned from a previous sitting of the Court in order to secure the attendance of a material witness named Shaw. The latter's evidence was taken atj, considerable length, after which couiisel on both sides addressed the Court. His Worship gave judgement in favor of defendant, but did not allow costs. Mr Copland appeared for plaintiff ; Mr M'Coy for defendant. > Gascoigne v. Gibson. — Claim of Ll. As there was no appearance of either party, this case was struck out. Pearson v. Gibson. — Action to recover £5, value of growing crops destroyed by defendant's horses trespassing upon plantiff's fields. Judgment for 30s ; costs of Court, 14s ; witness' expenses, ss ; professional costs, 10s 6d. D. Evans v. M'Comb.— Claim of £8 17s. Adjourned to 18th March. J. Fitzgerald v. Hills.— Claim of £12 10s. This case was also adjourned to the 15th instant. _ Mosley v. Wootton— Claim of £35, plaintiffs commission for leasing an hotel belonging to Wootton. Evidence was taken at eorne length, but his Worship decided to adjourn the proceedings until the 25th inst., in order that plaintift might produce additional witnesses.
