(Before E. H. Carew, Esq., Warden.) FfiIDAY, 15 th Maech. Fredrick Stoughton Margetts' application for an agricultural lease of section 1, block 1., Tuapeka West,- waß granted; certificate to issue on payment of tbe first half-year's rent. Richard Barrett and others made application for an extended claim of 600 ft. by 300 ft., situate in Gabriels Gully. — Granted for an area of 533 ft. by 300 ft., and subject to the conditions that the applicants take upon themselves to protect the claim from water and tailings, and that miners shall have the same right to run water and tailings on the ground upon unoccupied landj subject also to rights of holders of grant for main tailrace over the land. The application of George Young and George Valkenburgh for an extended claim of two acres, situate in Blue Jacket Gully, was likewise granted, Hugh Cox, Thomas Wilson, David Hunter, and' Matthew Tomb also applied for an extended claim of four acres, situate at Wetheratones^ Sold Cheap.— Little Brown (to "Nigger Minstrel," who always addressed his listeners as "My Lord"): "Ah, how did you know my — ah— how did you know I was- -a lord?" (Sensation among the bystanders!) Minstrel: "Bles yer, my lord. I never loose sight o' my schoolfellers !" (Roars of laughter.) Little B. cares in and bolts !—"! — " Pouch." !
