Notes From the Course.
(Special to the “ Star.”) DUNEDIN. This Day. In the Tahuna Handicap, Air Flow won, after making a bad break at the end of a furlong. Once she set a gait she gave a fine exhibition of trotting and won by a neck. All Thorpe and Sylvia Moko broke at the start. Discord and Ann Parrish trotted away from the field in the early stages, and were still well clear of Air Flow with a round to go. piscord was first in line for home, but, half-way down the straight, Air Flow had her measure Ann Parrish was third and Golden Bingen was fourth. Air Flow was a hot favourite. Immediately after the race the stipendiary stewards ordered an inquiry into the galloping of Air Flow. After hearing evidence, Air Flow was disqualified for the race. Discord being placed first, Ann Parrish second and Golden Bingen third. Discord carried £lls 10s and £ll7 10s; Ann Parrish, £149 10s and £139 10s; and Golden Bingen, £92 10s and £lO7. Royal Handicap.
In the Royal Handicap Wink Eye made the early running from Sea Trail. Prince de Oro, Bright Voyage and Dillon Queen. There was little change until entering the back stretch for the j last time, where Sea Trail went to the front with Wink Eye, Prince de Oro and Dillon Queen as his nearest attendants. Two furlongs from home, Sea Trail, Dillon Queen and Wink Eye drew right away from the field, and in the race home Dillon Queen beat Rea Trail by a length, with Wink Eye five lengths away third. Belle Derby was fourth. Peter Mitchell and Gold Salute broke at the start, Gold Salute repeating his error again at the end of four furlongs. Prince de Oro was favourite with £332 and £lB2 10s, Dillon Queen carried £259 and £165 10s, Sea Trail £36 and £67 10s, and Wink Eye £2B and £4O. Pacific Handicap. In the Pacific Handicap Lena Thorpe made the early running from Lena Bingen, Admiral Bingen, Lone Derby, Oinner Bell and Wlid Dreams. Passing the five furlong post, Lena Thorpe was still in charge from Admiral Bingen, Lena Bingen, Lone Derby and Wild Dreams. Admiral Bingen took charge before reaching the straight, and came on to win handsomely by two lengths from Wild Dream, who beat Lone Derby by lengths. General Wrack broke at the start. Wild Dreams was favourite with £372 10s and £173, Admiral Bingen caried £B9 10s and £B7, and Lone Derby £163 10s and £l2O. Birthday Handicap.
In the Birthday Handicap, when the field had fettled down, Rey Spec was in charge from Master Roy, Great Logan, Raydus, War Buoy and Peter Locanda. There was no change until a mile and three-quarters had been completed. Then War Buoy put in his claim. Rey Spec was first in line for home, with War Buoy, Master Roy and Great Logan in close attendance. In the race to the judge, War Buoy outclassed his opponents to win by a lenth and a half from Great Logan, who beat Rey Spec by a neck. Raydus was fourth. War Buoy was a hot favourite with £685 10s and £358. Great Logan caried £193 10s and £2lO.
