LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
Meeting of Canterbury Executive. YISIT TO WEST COAST. The last meeting- of the Canterbury Rugby League Executive before the annual meeting on March 25 was held last evening, Mr W. S’. E. Moyle presiding. The Reefton Club wrote stating that, at its annual meeting on March 4, the following resolution had been carried; “ That the Canterbury Executive should be asked to arrange an excursion to Reefton at Easter, thus giving a help to the code at Inangahua.” It was decided to refer the question to the clubs, recommencing favourable consideration. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on Monday, March 25, the meeting to be open to all interested. Mr Moyle said that members of the executive would confer with a delegate from the Otago League on March 30 to consider what was to be done with the code in Otago in the coming season. Junior Advisory Board. The annual meeting of the Junior Advisory Board was held prior to the executive meeting. Mr R. A. Drury presiding. The annual report stated that, as far as junior football was concerned, the season had jeen a memorable one. There had been 295 new registrations, and thirty-nine teams were entered. The Canterbury schoolboys’ team had successfully defended a challenge from the West Coast for the Norman Cox Memorial Shield. The committee stressed the importance of players turning out in correct uniform. The report was adopted. It was deciCed that entries should close on April 8, and the competitions start on April 13. Mr R. A. Drury was re-elected chairman, and Mr E. M’Sweeney secretary. The election of other officers was left to a later meeting. It was recommended that the incoming committee should form a Classification Committee to grade teams. Pirates Club. The second annual meeting of the Pirates Rugby League Club was held recently, Mr P. Kirton presiding. The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr T. Harper, sen.; president, Mr P. Kirton; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Hooper, W. Thomson, J. Harper, H. Batchelor, C. Allen, M. Kelly and T. Foulder; club captain, Mr J. M’lntyre; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr J. T. Leech; delegate to the Junior Advisory Board, Mr W. Thomson; committee, L. Taylor, W. Thomson and J. Harpei. The opening day was fixed for March 30 Ruru Club. I The second annual meeting of the Ruru Rugby League Club was held last evening, Mr R. J. Cornwall presiding. The annual report ancf balanuce-sheet showed that the club was in a sound position both as regards players and finance. Pleasure was expressed that in its first season the club had secured one representative player, T. Summervillee, jun., and one player in the trials, V. Reid. It was decided to field a senior team and a junior team. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr R. J. Cornwall; vice-president, Mr T. Summerville, jun.; honorary secretary, Mr A. Murray; honorary treasurer, Mr T. Summerville, sen.; club c-aptain. Mr T. Summerville, sen.; custodian, Mr C. Murray; delegate to the League Executive, Mr R. J. Cornwall; committee, Messrs L. Thompson, T. Summerville, jun., V. Reid, C. Plato, W. Bell and J. Jennings. Mr R. A. Drury, a member of the executive, attended the meeting, and answered a number of questions.
