ATHLETIC FILMS.

Shown to Members of C.A.A.C. Films of the last Olympic Games and of local meetings were shown at the Pioneer Amateur Sports Club last evening to members of the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club. Certificates were also presented to those who won places at the last Canterbury championships. The films shown included two imported reels taken at the 1932 Olympic Games, slow-motion shots of * jumpers at St Andrew’s College, and a film of the national trials last December. The toast of the Canterbury Centre was proposed by Mr R. Gracie, president of the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club. The president of the centre, Mr J. K. Moloney, who responded, emphasised the high ideals of the centre and spoke of the hopes for the future of the sport. Mr Moloney then presented certificates to athletes who won places at the last Canterbury championships. They were as follows: Miss F. Gudsell, Messrs T. G. Broadway, J. D. Nelligan, E. A. M'Naughton, J. Thompson, D. G. Simpson and R. Rogers. Items were given by Messrs W. C. Flewellyn, D. M’Gill and W. Redpath. Mr H. E. Goodland was accompanist.
