Tennis Club’s Picnic.
About fifty members and friends of the Shirley Tennis Club went yesterday for their annual picnic to Wooder.d Beach. The success of the picnic was due, in a large measure, to a committee comprising Misses K. King, E. Egan. E. Talbot and A. Raven, Messrs H. A. Baggs, T. M. Mitchell. G. C. Finey. N. Walsh. After an enjoyable swim and an adjournment for lunch a programme of races was held. Results: Children’s three-legged race—Shirley Scott and Betty Robb. Children under fourteen years—Shirley Scott and Jack Robb. Women’s club members’ championship —Miss K. King. Women’s open handicap—Mrs Edwards. Men’s club members’ championship—A. Faulls. Men’s open handicap—Law. Three-legged race —Miss K. King and N. Walsh. Cigarette smoking dual relay—Miss E. Talbot and A. Faulls. Flower-pot race— Adults, Miss E. Talbot; children. Beryl Baggs. A pleasant day ended witli a tug-of-war, in which C. E. W. Edwards’s team proved victorious.
