REDCLIFFS REGATTA.
Programme to Include All Craft. Mr R. Beveridge presided over a meeting of those interested in the forthcoming Redcliffs Regatta. Those present included representatives of the Canterbury Rowing Association, the Pleasant Point Sailing Club, the Canterbury Sailing Club, the Waimakariri Power Boat Club and the officers of the Christchurch Sailing and Power Boat Club. The following decisions were made regarding the programme: The first of six races to begin at 1 p.m. and finish at 2.30 p.m., over a course from near Fisherman’s Point to a spot off Bay View Road; the sailing race for the Navy League Cup to start at 2.30, followed by two or more rowing races; at 3 p.m. the race for the fourteen feet and over yachts is to begin, to be followed by the race for the under fourteen feet yachts at 3.5, and the race for the Takapuna and Idle Along 9lasses at 3.10. It was proposed that the course for the sailing races should start from a point off Estuary Road and lead into the Heathcote and Avon channels. The course for motor launches will be from Fisherman’s Point to a buoy off the Clubhouse and will probably' be three times round. The chairman stated that in order to give the public the best opportunity of seeing the events to advantage the contests would be kept, as much as possible, in full view of the embankment along Estuary Road. The offer of Mr A. W. Beanland to prepare a plan of the course was accepted with thanks. The meeting decided that, all details of the function should be arranged by the members of the Christchurch Sailing Club.
