PROTRACTED STRIKE.
44-Hour Week Demanded by Miners. (Received January 10. 1.45 p.m.) PERTH, This Day. After a union meeting at Kalgoorlie. the secretary handed to the Chamber of Mines a letter stating that the men would only work forty-four hours weekly. . This will close the door to negotiations and the union leaders are now preparing for a protracted stoppage.
