GARDEN COMPETITION.
Judging commenced last week in the Guyon A. M. Macdonald home and garden competition, which is held under the auspices of the Orari Horticultural Society. This j*ear the judging is confined to the three months of December. Janqary and February. There were five entries for the competition. The judges are Messrs G. W Coombs and G. Patrick, both of GeralThe year 1934 was characterised by heavy rainfall at Orari. especially during the early months of the year. By the end of May more rain had fallen than during the whole twelve months of 1931. Heavy rain fell in October and steady showers in November, but the light fall in December proved disappointing. The total fall of 28.37 m for the year has been exceeded cn three occasions during the past eight years. Mr R. Crowther, of Christchurch, is on a holiday visit to Orari. Mr R. Noonan. Christchurch, is spending a short holiday in Orari as the guest of Mr and Mrs S. R. Muff, Ohape.
