POLL TO DECIDE.
San Francisco Strike Not Yet Settled. OTHER DISPUTES. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July 23, 11.10 a.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, July 22. A final settlement of the longshoremen s strike has been postponed until later in the week, when it will be decided by a poll of the individual members on the question of arbitration. Despite the insistence of the radical leaders that they will never allow arbitration, there is every indication that the conservatives have now gained control, and that the proposals of the Federal mediators will be accepted. Quiet prevailed in other strike-torn sections over Sunday, but no appreciable progress was made with the negotiations in the lorry strike at Minneapolis. National Guard troops remain in control at Seattle, San Francisco and Minneapolis.
The textile strike in Alabama appeared to be gaining strength with over 20,000 operatives idle. Despite the action of the N.R.A. in returning the blue eagle to the Harriman mills, the men voted to continue the strike.
