DAY EXCURSIONS.

Plans by Akaroa Progress Association. A meeting of members of the Transport and Accommodation Group of the Akaroa Progress Association was held to discuss the matter of promoting day and week-end excursions from Christchurch to Akaroa. The question was discussed at length and it was decided to inquire as to the best way of arranging trips in the off season, commencing about the end of September. It is considered that such trips would tend to popularise Akaroa. St Peter's Church.

Mrs Denis Narbev, who is convener of . the fairy stall at the forthcoming bazaar in aid of St Peter’s Church, to be held next month, was hostess at an enjoyable progress euchre party. Unfortunately the bad weather prevented many people from attending. Mesdames W. F. Bell and Narbey were the winners of the prizes. Popular Bank Officer. Mr W. Ibbotson, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Akaroa, left °n Thursday on transfer to Geraldine. Mr EJ. R. Undrill, of the Hokitika branch, will replace Mr Ibbotson next week. During Mr Ibbotson’s residence of the past few years in Akaroa, he has greatly interested himself in aquatic sports. He is secretary of the Akaroa Power Boat and Yacht Club formed at the beginning of this year, and was a keen swimmer. At the aquatic carnival held last Easter he won the contest for aquaplaning, of which he is a great exponent.
