SEVERE SLAUGHTER.

Paraguayan Forces Badly Cut About. BUENOS AIRES, June 23. Thousands of Paraguayan soldiers, it was reported on Saturday, had been trapped and slaughtered by Bolivian artillery fire. This disaster comes as a climax to a seven-day Paraguayan drive against the Bolivian stronghold in the Chaco Boreal, Fort Ballivian. Communiques issued by the Governments of Paraguay and Bolivia indicate that the recent fighting has been the most terrible of the past two years of the jungle war.
