CAUGHT IN WINDOW.

Man Suspended by Feet for 60 Hours. ADELAIDE. April 8. Joseph Crane, sixty-nine years of age, of Kangarilla, about twenty-six miles south-east of Adelaide, was found and rescued after he had been hanging head downward from a window for about sixty hours. He was suspended by his feet from 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday until noon on Saturday. Crane died to-night in the Adelaide Hospital. Crane s plight was discovered by chance when two boys visited his house to deliver meat and bread on Saturday morning. They saw a pair of boots protruding from the window, and reported it to the police. A constable found that the door of the house was locked He forced it open and saw -rane hanging head downward in a room. His head was just clear of the floor and his feet were jammed in the window, which was almost shut With difficulty the constable released Crane who was unconscious and scarcely breathing. Crane’s face was verv swollen and red. He was placed on a bed and gradually regained consciousness. Then he was taken to the Adelaide Hospital suffering from badly swollen and bruised legs and serious internal injuries. Crane told the police that he could not open the door and had tried to enter by the window when he returned home on Wednesday night He became stuck in the window. He had shouted as loudly as he could but could make no one hear.
