Business Ethics.
Dear Sir, —In an address to the Advertising Club the Rev J. F. F'eron has strongly emphasised the necessity for having his church built on sound foundations, and he has been very strong on the subject of high principle in business. I would like to add one word that the preachers generally do not give enough attention to, either in or out of the pulpit, and that is the necessity for a high example by laymen who are associated with the churches. Whenever an ardent churchman plays a dirty trick in business, as they often do. he is doing such a grave disservice to the churches that I have often wondered whether it would not be worth their while to have some forum to which an aggrieved party could appeal to say whether this or that business practice was consistent with the professions of the churchman who practised it. I think that men don’t go to church partly because there are too many hypocrites using it as a cloak for busincs' rascality.—l am. etc., ANTI-HUMBUG
