AMATEUR CYCLING.

Meeting of Canterbury Centre. The Canterbury Amateur Cycling Centre met last night. There were present Messrs C. Hamilton (president), T. Grose, C. Hill, J. Doyle. A. Hands. G. Kilpatrick, J. Blick, G. R. Giles F Reynolds, o. Alfords and F. Knipe (honorary secretary). The arrangements made between the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association and the Amateur Athletic Association for the control of cycling events at mixed meetings in Wellington were outlined by the secretary of the former association (Mr C. W. M’Conchle). He said that that was a matter for an understanding between the two bodies, which in Wellington were working together without any trouble. When a meeting was to be held under the control of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Association, the Cycling Centre forwarded a list of officials to be included in the programme. The letter added that the Canterbury Centre’s nomination of O. R. B. Giles and F. J. Grose for the British Empire Gaines would be placed before tlib association immediately. The following were the names of delegates to the New Zealand Association:—Auckland, Mr H. p. Bennett and another to be appointed: Wellington, Messrs G. H. Harrison and H. J. Dutton; West Coast (North Island), Mr A. Couch man; Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bav, Mr G. S. Bright;* Otago, Mr P. N. Robinson. The meeting appointed Messrs M’Conchie and A. Nattrass ns Canterbury's representatives on the New Zealand Association Arrangements were made for the centre’s first road race of the season on Saturday, over a fifteen-mile course, starting from Papanui at 2.30 p.m. The president and Messrs Blick and Hands were appointed a deputation to wait on the New Brighton Novice Club regarding the status of its members. An application for reinstatement as an amateur was received from I*'. 11. Pope, of the Mairehau Club, who said that he had not ridden in any cash event since October 23, 1933. The application was held over. Favourable consideration was given to the application of P. Haddon for reinstatement as an amateur official, and to that of W. G. Hughey for reinstatement as a rider.
